This survey is run by Obsidian. Our privacy policy applies as usual. This note covers the parts specific to the survey.

Your answers are not connected to your account

Signing in tells us only that your account has taken part. Nothing else about you is attached to what you write.

Your answers are stored separately, with no reference back to your account. There is no key, no identifier, and no hidden link between the two. This is how the database is built. It does not rely on a promise about what we choose to look at.

Please understand this before you begin. We cannot find your response after you submit. You cannot find it either.

What we keep, and for how long

We keep your internal Obsidian account ID, the sections you reached, and your agreement to this notice. The ID is not your name or email. We delete this information when the survey closes on 26 October 2026. Backups holding your account ID are kept for at most 30 days. They are destroyed when the survey closes.

We keep your answers, how long you took, your language setting, your operating system family, and the link that brought you here. This information is not connected to your account.

We do not record your browser’s user-agent, screen size, or timezone for the survey. We do not use tracking cookies or fingerprinting. The only cookie keeps you signed in while you answer.

Answers you’re still typing

Your in-progress answers are saved in your own browser. A reload will not erase them. Your answers are not sent to us until you press Submit. We clear the browser draft after you submit. On a shared computer, “Clear draft” removes it immediately.

What you can and cannot ask us to do

Because your answers aren’t connected to your account, we cannot retrieve, correct, or delete an individual response. We cannot do this on request or for ourselves. This is what keeps your answers unattributable.

You can ask us to delete your participation record. This record shows that your account took part. Contact us at [email protected]. We also delete that record when the survey closes.

What we publish

We publish only aggregate results, such as counts and percentages. We do not publish individual responses or a raw dataset. Before publishing, we suppress small numbers. This helps prevent unusual combinations of answers from identifying someone.

Free-text answers are excluded from published figures. A person reads any text we want to quote. Please don’t put your name, email, or anything else identifying into free-text answers. We cannot remove it later because we cannot find your response.
